Medilink EM Member Company Afortiori Development has introduced a range of new services to its extensive portfolio during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Afortiori Development Ltd is a clinical research company which provides services for the design, planning and management of clinical studies, including post-marketing clinical follow-up and also provides a consulting service for clinical development planning. Afortiori has been a Member of Medilink East Midlands since 2018.

Medilink EM is the East Midlands life science industry association whose aim is to help companies establish, develop, and grow. Through its membership base of over 140 high-calibre life science companies, Medilink East Midlands acts as a focal point for life sciences in the region.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdown, many companies across the UK have had to restrict or reduce their operations, due to current conditions. However, Afortiori saw the current situation as an opportunity to develop and add to their existing service portfolio. These are in addition to the Live for 45 sessions run by Afortiori, which provide life science companies with free, 45-minute consultancy sessions. The current series of Live for 45 sessions have drawn to a close, but future sessions are planned for July 8.

Afortiori now offers the following services, in addition to its existing service portfolio.

  • Workshops for early-stage clinical development planning for drugs and devices
  • Data Monitoring Committee (DMC) panels, for clients who need an independent DMC to review study data on high-risk trials
  • GDPR advice which is specific to the life sciences sector and aimed at trial data
  • Data storage and handling for Medical Technology devices with apps for health monitoring.
  • GCP Risk Management training
  • Clinical Trials overview training
  • Increased networking and exploration of partnerships across Europe for all stages of development.

Elizabeth Ralph, Chief Operating Officer at Afortiori, said: “The Coronavirus pandemic has had worldwide implications for all of us. Here at Afortiori, we wanted to use the time to our advantage and work on developing some of the projects that we’ve had in the pipeline. We can now offer a wider range of services than before and we hope to be able to continue to offer these to our clients throughout the remainder of COVID-19 and beyond.

“We also wanted to offer our Live for 45 sessions for free during this time in response to the Coronavirus, as our way of helping the life science community. We don’t make PPE or have the facilities to help in that respect, but we do have the means to help life science companies to get their products and services to the market faster and contribute to a better overall standard of health, for everyone.”
