Food Supplements Special Interest Group (SIG)

Thursday 7 March 2019 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm GMT

Probiotics and the Gut Microbiome.

As part of a two part special interest group initiative, Farm to Fork, with our sister SIG, Infectious Disease (co-ordinated by Dr Katie Laird, DMU) we are looking at the nutrition perspective of microbiology, namely probiotics and why a healthy gut is important. Micro-organisms are integral to our health and wellbeing. In these two networking meetings we shall be exploring how the role of micro-organisms both good and bad are pivotal to our continued health.

7 March – This event will look at the impact of the microbiome, influence of probiotics (what they are and how they are regulated) and how to innovate in this area.

This free to attend event is held as part of the INSTILS programme – a project part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, click here to be re-directed to further information about the project.

Please note: Individual registration is required for each event. By clicking BOOK NOW you will be registered for 7 March only.

3 April – The Infectious Disease SIG will explore the links between food production and antibiotic resistance in the environment and the impact this can have on health. Click here for further details.
