Modern healthcare and biotechnology present challenges that require innovative, collaborative approaches to build solutions. By bringing together researchers from across traditional disciplinary boundaries, the Biodiscovery Institute (BDI) aims to use, or support, scientific endeavour to deliver change for societal benefit. This in-person event, organised together with the BDI, will provide an opportunity to hear about a diverse range of projects and about opportunities to access the facilities, technologies and expertise as part of new partnerships.
The event will provide:
- An overview of the research and commercial projects being carried out in BDI and of the underpinning research culture.
- A discussion of how we engineer microbes to make useful products from greenhouse gases, waste products and low-cost feedstocks.
- Presentations on the development and implementation of AI for cancer diagnostics.
- An overview of how deep mechanistic understanding of cell-surface proteins can lead to innovation in drug design.
- An opportunity to tour BDI – featuring robotic cell and liquid handling, large-scale cell culture suites, high field NMR and super resolution imaging with many facilities available for use by SMEs.
