You will be given the opportunity to build an in-depth understanding of the Business; from our products and markets and the departmental operations that deliver these products and services; through to the culture and strategic direction of the Business.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will develop a critical understanding of the Company’s sophisticated systems through the delivery of major projects and systems re-engineering activities to meet the company’s ambitious growth and investment plans.

You will attend all Board Meetings where it is expected that you will make an increasingly valuable contribution.

Key Responsibilities to include:

  • Take responsibility for the Louth factory for an 18 month period as an introduction to the businesses processes and how data can be used to drive improvements.

  • Deliver major projects and systems re-engineering activities including participation in the project team for the redevelopment of several existing facilities. These activities will be pursued alongside a cohort of other new and associate directors, who will have an increasing level of responsibility as the current board members pursue other interests.

  • Shape the future of the business through design and implementation of new systems and technologies.

  •  Delivery business outcomes through use of data, driving change and improvement, managing repeatability, and – importantly – inspiring these behaviours in others.

  • Support the continuation process in the development of new process technology. Have the ability to logically analyse production processes and implement new operational technology.

  • Support the journey of implementation of the Continuous Improvement methodologies.

  • Understanding of broader operational issues including procurement, supply chain and engineering and will play a part in furthering those disciplines.

Person Specification:

Experience:

  • Currently working at a Senior Production / Engineering Management level
  • Experience in successfully leading significant business improvement projects
  • Ability to demonstrate the conception, development and implementation of new technology in an operational environment
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of complex control systems and their role in a demanding operational environment
  • An understanding of broader operational issues including procurement, supply chain and engineering.

Skills and Personal characteristics:

  • An operational and technological visionary who can drive to shape the industrial systems and technology of tomorrow.
  • Intelligent and technically inquisitive. Perhaps evidenced by higher education in engineering, IT or science.
  • A data-driven systems thinker and keen practitioner of business improvement methodologies, with a track record of process reengineering and continuous improvement.  Able to inspire and develop these behaviours in others.
  • Conversant with controls systems (PLC, SCADA, etc.) with an understanding of how these simplify and automate processes and manage the quality of outputs.
  • Passionate about innovation and environmental sustainability.
  • A collaborative, lateral thinker who puts energy into delivering their own ideas and into uncovering / championing the ideas of others.
  • Frustrated by inertia, with the drive and energy to overcome it.
  • Possessing qualities of a senior operational leader. Empathetic but plain speaking, strong but fair.  Capable of (progressively) contributing positively at Board meetings while maintaining high visibility on the shop floor.
  • Numerate with good IT skills (PC and production systems).
  • Commercially and financially aware
  • Currently residing, or prepared to relocate to, within a 1 hour drive of Louth or Skegness.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a fast-moving technical career in operations whilst providing a beautiful rural life for your family with exceptional local grammar schools, the nearby attractive coastline, and close to the historic city of Lincoln.

The successful candidate will have moved quickly through their career and will be looking to develop into an Operations Director. Your first 18 months will be based in Louth, Lincolnshire.
