    Focus: Case study of University of Birmingham spin out that benefitted from student engagement
    MICA Biosystems is a company that uses nanobiotechnology to develop new medical treatments, with a focus on regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. MICA Biosystems was established as a spin-out from the University of Keele. MICA Biosystems is a shining example of how successful spin-outs can be created through close collaboration between universities and businesses. The company’s engagement with students and the university has been essential to its success, and it is a model for other spin-outs to follow. 
  • Dr Lucy Alexander, Business Manager, Charnwood Campus
    Charnwood Campus Life Sciences Talent and Skills Institute (LSTSI) is a case of best practice for company engagement with local talent in a number of ways. The campus provides a centralized location for companies and local talent to interact, offers a variety of programs and events to facilitate engagement between companies and local talent and has a strong focus on collaboration between companies and academic institutions. LSTSI Charnwood Campus is a model for how companies can engage with local talent in a meaningful and productive way.
