Medilink Midlands Ltd is seeking to recruit an Events Officer to join the current highly skilled team based across the East and West Midlands.
Medilink Midlands is a membership organisation with over 20 years’ experience as the region’s specialist, not-for-profit provider of life sciences innovation and business support – leading the way as the Voice of Industry and facilitating cluster development and ecosystems to help businesses establish, develop, and grow. The Midlands is a world class region for the life science sector, and home to the largest number of MedTech businesses in the UK with a £1.6b annual regional contribution.
It is an exciting time to be working with and supporting such an impactful sector and we are delighted to be recruiting an Events Officer, working in a fast-paced, busy environment, within a small, friendly team at Medilink Midlands. This role is specifically suited to an individual with extensive events experience. As part of the Events Team, you will help to showcase the truly amazing work being undertaken by our network.
Summary of responsibilities:
Working with the Events Manager and wider teams to support the delivery of the Events Programme which raise awareness of Medilink Midlands work, our membership, projects, and stakeholder partners.
The Events Officer will assist their Line Manager with the delivery of the Events Strategy to ensure all events are optimised and delivered according to operational excellence.
- Delivery of agreed schedule of project, flagship and commercial events
- Coordinate and deliver agreed events schedule
- Support Events Manager with administrative tasks relating to events as required
- Procure and negotiate with venders and suppliers with final sign off by Events Manager and SLT
- Ensure agreed events are live and accessible on digital platforms
- Work with SOP’s and Events Strategy to ensure that planning for events is done to an agreed timescale
- Coordination of stakeholders internal and external for the successful delivery of agreed events
- Represent Medilink Midlands at partner events on exhibition stands or as a delegate
- Maintaining relationships with stakeholders, partners, members and patrons
- Contribute to the Events Programme with creative and innovation solutions
- Collaborative working with the Marketing Team on agreed events
- Support Events Manager with the 24-month Events planner. Forward scheduling all events project meetings for all agreed events. Including agenda development, minutes and post-meeting actions
- Support Events team with workloads due to sickness or annual leave
- Support International Strategy with Events delivery and coordination as agreed with Events Manager
Person specification
Essential:
- Must have at least 4/5 years’ experience working in a similar role.
- Own Vehicle and willing to travel extensively across the Midlands region and East of England.
- Will be conscientious, very well organised, a systematic self-starter who has an eye for detail.
- Excellent written skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work at pace, taking a positive approach to new challenges.
- Ability to organise, prioritise and deliver a demanding workload.
- A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work and ability to use own initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work in a complex multi-stakeholder environment.
- Able to support and identify continuous improvement of our marketing strategy and activities.
- Able to collaborate with the wider team and work independently.
Preferred:
- Ideally, would have worked within a small company environment where numerous projects/activities are undertaken simultaneously.
- Experience / knowledge of the life sciences sector would be preferable but not essential.
