How our Patron supports the medtech and life sciences sector

Our biological measurement and analysis facilities cover a wide range of areas including proteomics, bioimaging, genomics, chromatography and antimicrobial testing. We regularly collaborate with industry partners to support research and development across the life sciences sector.

In addition we are home to the UK High-Field Solid-State NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) Facility and are a partner in the National Electron Diffraction Facility, housing one of the UK’s only electron diffractometers. These advanced techniques can support pharmaceutical research by providing key information on the molecular structure, purity and stability of pharmaceutical substances to ensure they function as intended.

Similarly, our state-of-the-art microscopy techniques and data services can help companies in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and advanced materials gain critical insights at the nanoscale, enabling automated and high throughput testing, faster drug development and improved quality control.
