Medilink East Midlands (EM), in partnership with the East Midlands Academic Health Science Network (EMAHSN), have launched a new project which will provide sector-specific support to Medical and Life Science businesses based in Lincolnshire and Rutland.

Businesses working in this market, or looking to break into it, will have access to funding and business advice to help develop innovative new products and services.

This venture is in addition to a series of successful programmes currently being run across the rest of the East Midlands by Medilink EM. Through this new project, Medilink EM can now expand the support and funding opportunities into the entire region, which will have a huge impact on many businesses.

The project will initially run until 31st March 2019 and will provide SMEs access to a raft of support including grant funding for innovation development, a programme of events tailored to relevant sector specific topics, and support and advice from highly skilled individuals within the life sciences, industry, NHS and the university community. If the initial programme proves successful, then the project will hopefully be extended for a number of years.

By partnering with the EMAHSN, the project will also provide an enhanced NHS linkage service to support businesses across the whole of the East Midlands, helping them access and navigate the complicated clinical landscape.

Darren Clark, Chief Executive, Medilink EM, commented:

“Medilink EM has historically provided support across the entire East Midlands and has been running projects, part funded through the European Development Fund (ERDF) in other areas of the East Midlands for a number of years, so we’re delighted to be able to once again offer the same opportunities to organisations in Lincolnshire and Rutland. Through this new project, we will be able to provide Life Sciences companies with expert advice and support.”

Chris Hart, Commercial Director, EMAHSN commented:

“This new project will provide Lincolnshire and Rutland businesses with opportunities for growth and development that they haven’t had access to for some years. It’s a very exciting time for Life Sciences in the East Midlands, which is now being supported at full capacity. We’re thrilled to be working with Medilink EM to provide this support.”
