Nottingham Trent University’s Legal Advice Centre invites local small and medium organisations from the D2N2 area (Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire) to get involved this Enabling Innovation event exploring GDPR.
The Legal Advice centre will be joined by experts from Mills & Reeve.
Topics Include:
• An overview of data protection legislation and anticipated trends related to the GDPR
• Key concepts
• Case studies: Reinforcing key concepts to look at what is and isn’t covered by the GDPR
• Data Protection Officers
• Outlining the six key principles that must be adhered to to comply with the GDPR
• Looking at appropriate technical and organisational measures for SMEs and sole traders to implement
• Explaining restrictions on sending marketing emails/SMS messages and on making marketing calls

Speakers: Paul Knight and Helen Tringham, Principal Associates – Mills & Reeve
Paul heads up the team of Commercial, IP and IT lawyers based in Mills & Reeve’s Manchester office. He is the primary contact at Mills & Reeve for a number of clients, including the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Helen has significant experience in advising clients in relation to data protection matters and preparation for the GDPR, having carried out information audits for a number of clients in recent months. Helen has also helped clients deal with data breaches and individuals exercising their rights under existing data protection legislation.
