These sessions offer the chance for those interested in applying for the funding to learn more about the opportunity and to pose their questions to those allocating the funds.

BBSRC/DEFRA Endemic Livestock Diseases Programme
The Endemic Livestock Diseases Initiative aims to meaningfully reduce the overall level and impact of endemic disease on the UK livestock sector, to improve productivity and the health and welfare of animals. The initiative will bring academia and businesses together to co-create novel prevention and intervention solutions.
All projects must include at least one business project partner. The full economic cost of your project can be up to £1,000,000 over 3 years. BBSRC will fund 80% of the full economic cost. The business project partner must contribute at least 10% cash (or in-kind) of the full economic cost of the project.
Project collaborators are crucial participants in the proposals. They may encompass a wide range of stakeholders, including:
- farmers
- businesses
- innovators
- veterinary practitioners
- data management service providers
Businesses must be UK-based or have UK-based research activity.
Projects should address the themes below. The scope is solutions-focused and research and translation activities that cut across the themes are encouraged.
- Digital agriculture
- Genetics and breeding
- Farm management
- Vaccine platforms and technologies
- Novel therapeutics
- Co-infection
Exclusions from this call include bovine TB and animal nutrition.
