Enterprise Europe Network based at the East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire) is inviting healthcare businesses in the region to join a trade mission to the MEDICA trade fair in Dusseldorf (Germany) in November this year.

MEDICA has been around for over 40 years, quickly establishing itself as a prominent fixture in the diaries of healthcare professionals and businesses.  The trade fair has grown year on year and hosted more than 5,100 exhibitors from 70 countries in 17 halls in 2016, cementing its place as the world’s largest event for the medical industry.  The event attracts a diverse list of exhibitors covering all aspects of the medical and healthcare sectors, including equipment, diagnostics, communications, physiotherapy and consumer goods. Enterprise Europe Network has developed a tailored programme to help companies make the most of their visit to MEDICA.

The mission will incorporate a business matchmaking event where delegates attend pre-arranged meetings with like-minded potential business partners, giving them the opportunity to showcase their business offering to those companies with which they want to connect.  Matchmaking events have historically proved extremely successful at MEDICA, with over 300 participants from around 30 countries and more than 1000 meetings in recent years, and 96% of exhibitors expressing extreme satisfaction with the business they achieved and the contacts they made at last year’s edition.

Businesses who join the Enterprise Europe Network delegation will benefit from an exclusive 50% discount on the cost of the entry fee to the MEDICA matchmaking event.  Jan Immel, International Programmes Manager said, ‘We are delighted to offer this fantastic opportunity to visit the MEDICA trade fair to companies in the East Midlands.  The healthcare sector is prominent in the region and we look forward to working with those businesses that are ready to internationalise.’

The mission (13 – 16 November 2017) will begin on the afternoon of Monday 13 November when delegates will fly to Dortmund.  Upon arrival they will be transported to the designated hotel to check in, and then head off for a briefing, arming them with everything they need to know about doing business in the region. Tuesday and Wednesday will see delegates travel to Dusseldorf, where the day will be spent entirely at the MEDICA trade fair and matchmaking meetings. Thursday is a little lighter paced, with an optional morning visit back to MEDICA, before transfer back to Dortmund airport to take a lunchtime flight back to the UK.

Trade missions are a great way to find out more about a particular target market and meet potential partners, with minimal investment.  The tailored programme, is organised in advance, and designed for delegates to completely immerse in the marketplace and business culture.

The organisers will work closely with delegates to understand their business needs and objectives for joining, and deliver support throughout the planning process.  An experienced member of staff will also travel to assist during the mission.
