Morningside Pharmaceuticals Ltd (MPL), based in Loughborough, has recently funded a brand new online stock control system for Syston based charity Inter Care. The new system will help the charity track the recycled surplus quality medicines and healthcare goods it sends to rural health units in some of the poorest parts of Africa.
As a manufacturer, wholesaler and exporter of Branded and Generic Medicines and Healthcare Products, with experience of export sales in over 90 countries, Morningside has supplied a diverse range of products to all areas of the pharmaceutical industry for over 25 years. Morningside is a key provider of licensed pharmaceuticals to the NHS and retail pharmacy sector, and is also one of the leading UK suppliers to aid agencies including the United Nations and non-governmental organisations. Both Morningside and Inter Care are proud winners of a prestigious Queen’s Award. Morningside holds the Queen’s Award for Enterprise – International Trade, for outstanding achievement by UK businesses, while Inter Care holds the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. This is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK, and is in recognition of the support the charity receives from over 50 volunteers, many of whom are medically trained.
The benefits of this system to Inter Care, and therefore to the health units they support in Africa, are huge. As the first electronic stock control system Inter Care has had since it was set up in 1974, it will enable the charity to track the aid it sends to Africa from the point it enters its warehouse, right through to delivery to each health unit. As a charity which places recycling at the core of its work, the new system will also enable Inter Care to maximise its own in-house recycling by replacing paper record keeping with digital records. Less paper work also means more space to store donated medical aid and less time spent looking through files, which will now be accessible at the click of a mouse.
Diane Hardy, Inter Care’s General Manager is thrilled with the new IT system, “Thanks to Morningside, Inter Care now has a highly professional and efficient stock control system, putting us at the top of our game for a charity of our size. Morningside’s mission is to make quality healthcare an affordable and accessible reality throughout the world, which echoes that of Inter Care. This makes them the perfect partner for our charity and we are hugely grateful and honoured to receive their support”.
Dr Nik Kotecha, Chief Executive Officer at Morningside Pharmaceuticals said:
“By supporting Inter Care with this new IT system, we are helping them to provide lifesaving medicines to deprived countries which need it the most, in line with National Quality Standards. Inter Care do great work in developing countries and Morningside are delighted that they are able to help enhance Inter Care’s Quality Management System.”
