Law firm Shakespeare Martineau has announced it is relocating to No. 1 Colton Square, supporting its empowered working principles and refurbishment roll-out.

Taking the 9,500 square foot space on the first floor, No. 1 Colton Square is less than five minutes’ walk from Leicester train station, with excellent access to public transport links.

The firm, which has been located at No. 2 Colton Square for the past decade, is making the short move across the Colton Square development from mid-June and, in doing so, creating a space reflecting its culture and ethos, utilising materials from the circular economy, while also causing minimal disruption to its people and clients.

The new office hub will include desk space that supports agile working, as well as providing meeting rooms, space to host events and collaboration areas.

Louise Ingram, co-head of the Leicester hub at Shakespeare Martineau, said: “It was time for a refresh of our Leicester office hub to better reflect our working practices and to bring together our people and clients in a rejuvenated, modern environment.

“No. 1 Colton Square offers an updated, accessible and agile space for our people and clients to work and collaborate in. Having previously been occupied by a tech company, it gives us a fantastic, modernised base on which we can put our personalised stamp.

“Following feedback from our people for greater flexibility, we launched our empowered working principles in 2021, which give our people flexibility on when and where they work, within the parameters of ensuring that we provide best service to our clients.”

Part of leading legal and professional services group Ampa, Shakespeare Martineau is a B-Corporation and, as part of its environmental commitments, is refurbishing its 11 national hubs with at least 80% recycled, upcycled or sustainably-sourced materials where possible.

Lisa Botterill, also co-head of Leicester, said: “We remain absolutely committed to Leicester for the long-term, recognised by our strong connections and heritage across the city and throughout the surrounding area. We look forward to continuing our investments in Leicester, growing our team and welcoming clients to our new office hub.”

Shakespeare Martineau and brands across the wider Ampa group are proactively recruiting like-minded individuals, teams and businesses.
