SLS has reached a significant milestone in its sustainability journey by achieving a gold rating from EcoVadis, and the company now sit in the top 5% of companies assessed by EcoVadis globally (specifically the 96th percentile) for sustainability performance.

This stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility, ethical business practices, labour and human rights, and sustainable procurement.

After achieving bronze medals in the last two assessments, the journey to a gold medal has been driven by a steadfast commitment to transparency and accountability over the past few years – something also made evident by SLS’s publicly available annual sustainability reports.

The approach taken by the company was anchored in clear, quantitative objectives aimed at reducing resource consumption across operations and supported by a comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions reduction plan covering all scopes. SLS have made sure that its policies reflect a robust commitment to responsible business practices, and beyond demonstrating intent to minimise impact and mitigate risk, the company takes corresponding measures to drive continual progress year on year.

SLS recognises the need for sustainability to sit at the forefront of policies, business activity, and reporting – and the EcoVadis Gold medal is a testament to this. Achieving Gold is not the end of its sustainability journey; it’s a milestone that, if anything, has inspired the company to progress even further. Moving forward, SLS will continue to improve data integrity to drive data-driven sustainability, as well as seek solutions to enhance both operational efficiency and supply chain performance.

Whilst sustainability may be seen as a competitive advantage, it is collaboration and shared best practices which are critical to achieving broader sustainability goals long-term. As a distributor, SLS hope to use its position in the market to inspire and support its partners, suppliers, and customers to embed sustainability into their ‘business as usual’ and contribute to a more sustainable industry.
